What to Actually Expect from Regular Air Conditioning Maintenance
The best way to prepare your air conditioning system to handle another hot and humid summer in North Carolina is to call our HVAC professionals and sign up for our Comfort Club. This maintenance program not only delivers two heating/air conditioning inspections and tune-ups each year, it comes with other benefits as well, such as a 15% discount on repairs, priority service, and no overtime charges.
But what actually happens when an HVAC technician comes to your home for air conditioning maintenance during the spring? Here’s a brief rundown on what to expect:
Inspections
Regular maintenance is also known as preventive maintenance because it helps prevent malfunctions and breakdowns by catching problems before they can become serious. Your air conditioning technician will carefully inspect the system, looking over all the motors, capacitors, fans, the compressor, the coils, the refrigerant level, etc. to locate places where wear and tear are threatening to create issues. You’ll find out in time if you need to schedule repair work such as replacement motors or sealed refrigerant leaks.
Adjustments and tune-ups
There are a number of basic tune-up tasks that your AC technician will take care of. These include tightening loose electrical connections, clearing out the condensate drain so it won’t clog, recharging refrigerant if it isn’t at the right level, and lubricating any moving parts that need it. The technician will also change the air filter.
Cleaning
Cleaning an air conditioner doesn’t just mean running the hose over the outdoor cabinet. The technician will clean dusty motors, remove and clean the condensate pan, and most important of all, clean the outdoor condensate coil using special chemical foam or other tools.
These tasks all requite a trained specialist—you can’t do this yourself. Simply give our team a call and we’ll take care of everything.
